In the spot light this month is James Grote. James, otherwise known as Jimmy, graduated from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind and won the Governor’s award while he was in high school. James is interested in a variety of activities, but he particularly loves basketball and softball. In fact, James was recently part of the silver medal award winning softball team that competed in the 2013 Special Olympics North America Softball Invitational in August. His favorite place to go is Barnes & Noble and he is a big fan of salted caramel frappucinnos…yum. James dreams of his brother, Leonard, writing a book about him someday. He loves the P139 sunday school class at First Baptist Church and is looking forward to being a part of “The Story”. He comes home from church with a big smile on his face. James is a regular at SonShine Club so say “Hi” to him the next time you see him.

Glenna always has a beautiful smile on her face.  She is always giving Larry a hard time. She has a giving heart.  In fact, she gave all the volunteers a gold Special Olympics medallion.  We love Glenna very much and her personality!

Meet our friend of the month, Jenni Beal.   Jenni is forty years old and has many hobbies.  She loves arts and crafts and especially enjoys making Christmas cards.  She is the proud owner of a White Westie dog named “Pebbles.”  Jenni loves to sing and one of her favorite Christian groups is Point of Grace.

Jenni heard about the SonShine Club through her friend, Travis.  Jenni enjoys everything about SonShine Club but her favorite part is prayer and devotion time.  “It blesses me!  I’m glad I’m here.” Jenni says.

Jenni and her family are only in Spartanburg for a few months and will be moving back to their home in Florida soon.   All of us at SonShine Club will definitely  miss her beautiful smile and bubbly personality.
